ICEdot helmet crash sensor – speaks for you

Oh, it’s okay, he landed on his head.

It’s all very well, you’ve got your helmet on and when you hit the deck it’ll protect you. Right? Well what happens when you, being the hardcore boundary-pusher that you are, come really unstuck and knock yourself out, or worse? Who’s to know you’re lying face down breathing dirt, up the creek without the proverbial paddle? Who’s going to come and help you? helmet crash sensor and your smartphone, that’s who.

ICEdot explains the workings of their new helmet crash sensor, a new addition to their existing range of In Case of (ICE) solutions as follows:

The Crash Sensor will mount onto any helmet and connects with your ICEdot Profile via a smartphone app. The system is able to detect motion, changes in forces and impacts. In the event of critical forces, the triggers the app over low-energy Bluetooth to sound an alarm and initiate an emergency countdown. Unless the countdown clock is stopped, the app will then notify your emergency contacts and send GPS coordinates of the incident so that appropriate follow up actions can be taken.

The other ICE solutions from this company also look really good. Their is not available in South Africa but let’s see if anyone of you sees the beauty and implements the system here. Until then, ride safe… and definately don’t do stuff like this.
